The Festival Gnaoua et Musiques du Monde is Essaouira's flagship cultural event and one of Africa's most important world music festivals. Over four days, Gnaoua master musicians (maalemeen) collaborate with international jazz, blues, and electronic artists in fusion concerts, while free open-air stages throughout the medina create an electrifying atmosphere accessible to all.
