Amapiano & Electronic Music Scene in Marrakech

Marrakech's Electronic Music Evolution

Marrakech has quietly built one of North Africa's most interesting electronic music scenes. What started with a few clubs booking European house DJs has grown into a diverse landscape covering deep house, tech house, afrobeats, and increasingly — amapiano.

The Rise of Amapiano

Amapiano — the South African genre built on deep basslines, log drums, and jazz-inflected keys — has crossed over hard into Moroccan nightlife. What started as background music at pool parties around 2023 is now the dominant sound at certain venues. Moroccan crowds took to it naturally — the laid-back groove fits the Marrakech vibe.

You'll hear amapiano at So Lounge on dedicated nights, at private villa parties in Palmeraie, and increasingly at mainstream clubs. Local DJs blend amapiano with Moroccan rhythms — gnawa bass meets log drums.

Key Venues

Theatro Marrakech

The big room. International headliners, proper sound system. Commercial house and tech house on regular nights. 200-300 MAD cover, 300-500 MAD for special events. Bottle service from 3,000 MAD. Friday and Saturday main nights.

So Lounge

Deep house, soulful house, and amapiano nights. Warmer, more musical sound. 150-250 MAD cover. The more discerning electronic music crowd.

Pacha Marrakech

Ibiza connection — same DJ circuit. House and tech house. 200-400 MAD cover. The terrace is where the real atmosphere is.

Silver

Newer, programs hip-hop, afrobeats, and electronic. Younger crowd, flexible music policy. 150-200 MAD.

The Villa Party Scene

The most interesting electronic music happens at private villas in Palmeraie — serious sound systems, international DJs, no noise restrictions. From 50-person gatherings to 500-person productions.

How to find them: Follow Marrakech promoters on Instagram. Join WhatsApp groups through people you meet at clubs. Ask bartenders at So Lounge. 300-500 MAD entry, often open bar included.

Peaks during Christmas/New Year, spring break, and festival season.

Festivals

Oasis Festival

The flagship. International electronic acts in a desert setting. Lineups from Cercle, Boiler Room, Ibiza residencies. Day passes 1,500-3,000 MAD, full festival 4,000-6,000 MAD.

Atlas Electronic

Smaller, more underground. Deeper, experimental electronic music in unique locations. 800-2,000 MAD.

International DJ Residencies

DJs from Pacha Ibiza, Hï, Amnesia pass through regularly — Marrakech is a natural extension of the Ibiza circuit (3 hours from Paris, 2.5 from Madrid). Residency seasons: October-November and March-May.

Afrobeats Nights

Dedicated following with midweek nights (Wednesday/Thursday). More vocal, more interactive. Silver and Guéliz lounges program these regularly.
