Consistently ranked among the top five golf courses in Africa, Assoufid Golf Club is the most dramatic and visually arresting course in Marrakech by some distance. Designed by Niall Cameron — whose portfolio includes courses across Europe and the Middle East — the par-72 layout stretches 6,439 meters through a genuine desert links environment of red ochre sand, wild olive scrub, and ancient Atlas cedar along the Route de l'Ourika 15km from the city. The routing is unconventional and inspired: holes dive through natural desert ravines, climb to ridge-top greens with unobstructed Atlas panoramas, and return across plateaus of coarse desert grass where the ball bounces and runs in ways that baffle first-timers and delight seasoned links players. The 7th hole — a mid-iron par-3 from an elevated tee to a green framed by the full sweep of the Atlas Mountains — is the most photographed golf hole in Morocco. Green fees run approximately 900-1,400 MAD for 18 holes depending on season. A caddie is not optional but essential: the desert routing has hidden sight lines, elevation-adjusted distances, and wind tunnels that only a local can read. Assoufid is on every serious golf traveler's Morocco bucket list for good reason.
